CRITICAL: UK guidance advises against all travel within 10 km of Türkiye’s Syria border. No itinerary includes the border strip. Eastern and southeastern chapters need contemporary district-level risk/permit checks; Mount Ararat is a special military zone and is not offered as a routine excursion. Ballooning, caves, remote trekking and boat journeys remain operator- and weather-dependent. Comprehensive regional master journey covering European Istanbul and Thrace, western archaeological and Aegean coast, Cappadocia, the Mediterranean, central Anatolia, Black Sea, and selected eastern and southeastern heritage destinations. Travel restrictions exclude the Syria-border strip and other high-risk or military-designated areas; archaeological access and balloon flights are conditional.
